Myriad Magazine

Hey everybody, rush week has come around again and Myriad has a table! Come check us out! We have candy, flyers, and copies of last year’s magazine.  Plus, talk to the editors and get your questions answered.  Find us out on the walk between the library and the activities center; we’re the table with the Myriad banner.  Hope to see y’all soon!

           This is our first cover - made in 1962 - and back then we were Impressions.

Happy Birthday to us! Myriad is officially 50 years old, and looking younger than ever! Started in 1962, we changed our name a couple of times until deciding on Myriad in the 70s, and we’ve stuck to it ever since.  Groovy, baby!

And, yes, it says 1997. In 1997, the El Camino Library did some filing and the results are in bright red. This is actually the cover of the 1963 edition.

ZOMG! Submission time is upon us! The Myriad is calling for submissions for its 2012 issue.  So, if you are an El Camino Community College student you can submit:

• one short story of up to 5,000 words
• up to three poems
• up to three pieces of artwork

With each submission you must include:

• your full name
• your contact information
• the title

Send your submissions to the.myriad@gmail.com by April 10, 2011, midnight.

Warning: Myriad is printed in black and white - that means your artwork too.  Please take this into account when deciding on a piece.  Also, just because you submitted it, doesn’t mean we’ll print it.  Each submitted piece goes through a rating process and only a small minority make it to print.  Don’t get discouraged - if your work is printed, that means it’s brilliant!
